Hello Friends!
I've missed "talking" to you! We have been insanely busy preparing for the April Sales Event which is just around the corner!! Are you ready? There is still plenty of time to get your things ready for the sale...we have THOUSANDS of items tagged in the couple of weeks so there is always time right up until drop off.
Our latest feature for our new consignors is a series of Podcasts we've recorded to help you with everything from Gathering supplies to using the tagging system to how drop-off and pick-up work. So...if you would like to listen to those audio "how-tos", you can find them on Facebook, our website or...I've attached a few of them here for you.

Pajamas after noon?! Yep...I am a stay-at-home mom!
Okay...I really should be heading off to the shower to get ready as it is 1:45 in the afternoon and yes...I am still in my pajamas! I really do hate to do admit this, but I also have this strange feeling that I am not alone in this occurrence. Now, please know...this does not happen every day! I am usually presentable by 9:00 a.m., but like many days around here I hit the ground running and one thing led to another which led to another, but none of them seemed to take me into my own room to take care of myself. Can any of you relate?!
I detoured into my office for just a moment to check e-mails as Ammie and I have many things going for the sale and I wanted to ponder a few of those "sale" things while I had a few moments to myself while grabbing my shower, but...then my mind drifted to the moms I had have met during the sales and those that I have been talking to lately and so I just thought I would touch base with you. :-) "Hello"!
This week on Facebook I have been talking about "non-traditional" ways of saving money and I would love to have you post your ideas, suggestions, etc. Monday I shared about re-using cereal box liners (article attached here for you) http://www.betterbudgeting.com/articles/frugality/cerealbagliners.htm. Today I talked about consignment sales and while for me, that is a normal means of saving money it is still a new concept for many people. Consignment sales were just mentioned on the Today show yesterday and then there was an article on my home page that talked about that too. Again...another article for you (because I am sure you have nothing more to do, right?!) http://customsites.yahoo.com/financiallyfit/finance/article-108664-3951-1-how-to-make-extra-money?ywaad=ad0035
I have a few other things that I will talk about on Facebook the rest of the week, but I would rather post some of your ideas, so let me know what you do to save money that maybe someone else does not know about or has not thought of yet.
Well...another detour through the kitchen to check on the 2 loaves of Applesauce Tea Bread (new recipe...If it turns out okay, I will share it with you tomorrow - I got it from a great Blog called Come Have a Peace) and then I will finally get my shower. Afterall, it is now 2:00 and I have to pick up my 3 sons from school in 35 minutes...YIKES!
Until next time....
Enjoying the day's detours,
Andrea

Happy Sweet Saturday!
Why Sweet Saturday? Because...It is National Pie Day! Don't you just love a good piece of pie? I especially like it when I have not had to make it! ☺ What is your favorite kind? Post recipes here for your favorites...
Here is a recipe for a SUPER EASY Caramel Pie!

Just yesterday, it was a beautiful North Texas Day, but today has been gray and drizzling ALL DAY! These are the types of days that keep me in and get me in the mood for tackling the piles of "to do"s. You know...Thank you notes to write, ironing to do, WORK!!, etc. Is one of your "to do"s to get organized? I posted this link yesterday on our facebook page, but in case you missed it there I am adding it here for you as it is just full of all sorts of helpful hints!

Well...I don't want to keep you from your pie- baking or organizing (LOL!), so I will close for now!
With sweet thoughts,

Happy Friday!
Good Morning Friends!
It is beautiful Friday morning here in North Texas! Great day to Buy a House! What?! Oh...I guess I haven't mentioned yet that we are trying (again!) to sell our house here in Crowley, TX. I lived in Oklahoma ALL of my life, so in 2004 when my husband's job situation forced us to start looking for different employment we ended up in the Fort Worth area. We knew NOTHING about this area, where we wanted to live, how the schools were, what the towns felt, like, etc. So...based upon the recommendations from a few people in the area, we bought a house in Crowley, TX. We love our house and the neighborhood is great, but...I am a city girl and am looking for a bigger town and we also would like to have some land to let our "pets" (a.k.a. our 3 active, growing sons and their tag-along little sister) to run, play and have some outdoor fun!
For those of you that have sold your home, you know what an awful process it is to get it ready for a showing (then again...maybe it is just us!)!! We did all of the "heavy duty" prep work (painting, repairing, clearing out unnecessary furniture, tidied up closets, etc.) two weeks ago. Now we just have to tackle the move-in ready look for each showing. We are still living in the house that we are trying to sell, so we of course have everyday items that while are very functional and efficient are not something you want out when people come to look (i.e. laundry baskets, bath products by tub, my piles of work on every flat surface in my office), so...my husband and I are doing the "house showing dance" this morning and removing items from each room of the house which of course, we will replace this evening only to have to put them all away again should we get another showing. Anyway - - all of that was said just to let you know what I am doing this morning! What are you doing?
For those of you that follow Germantown/Port Washington Just Between Friends on Facebook, you might recall a trash bag wreath that I told you about. Well...I decided that since I suggested it, that I ought to try it! I finished it just last night and it turned out really cute plus...talk about cheap and easy!! It cost me NOTHING to make as I used a wire hanger from my husband's closets and plastic bags from my bag holder and voila! :-)
( Here it is!)
You can use all white bags, but I purposely used multi-colored bags as I will use this for my children's birthdays, etc. so I thought the colors added some whimsy! Also...I will hang this on my door to celebrate Earth day! Actually, I won't this year as our sales event starts on Earth Day, so instead of it hanging on my front door in Texas it will be hanging in Wisconsin!
Must run...I have floors to vacuum, stuff to hide, and mirrors to shine!
Before I go...here is a thought for today:
Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.

I'm Back! (and glad to be here!)
Well Hello!
It seems like it has been FOREVER since I was last here, although it has only been just under a month. How is everyone? How were you holidays? Like SO MANY people across the country, we got to experience a very rare White Christmas. Living in the southern part of the country keeps us from hardly ever experiencing those and wow...what a beautiful backdrop for our Dear Savior's Birthday!
There is so much going on in our lives right now, the least of which is our daily Just Between Friends planning activities. We are actively working right now on getting the word out, talking to some fabulous vendors (I LOVE things like Creative Memories, Pampered Chef, Scentsy candles, etc. and wouldn't it be great to have it all in one spot?!...if you are a rep. or know of someone from any home-based party/product line, etc - let us know!!! We want to talk!! ☺), meeting and talking to new and existing consignor and accepting items from our stress-free clients. Our sign-ups are open and we do hope that you are planning on joining us!!
Ammie and I have talked so many times since starting on this journey together last year that one of the most treasured, yet unexpected, aspects of hosting our Just Between Friends Sales event is the wonderful people we have met! More than anything...we get most excited to see all of our existing and new "friends" when our sales roll around. We love getting to hear about your lives...your children, your jobs, your trips, your home re-decorating/remodeling/etc., your hobbies and more!
So, in that same spirit we will share a little more about ourselves here, however; it comes with this disclaimer (LOL!): We are ordinary moms leading pretty ordinary lives! Ammie and I often glean comfort/relief, joy, humor, sense of camaraderie, etc. from hearing about other moms that are going through the same thing we are! In other words...it is nice to know that you aren't alone when say: your son treats your kitchen cabinets and drawers like he would the park's jungle gym (thank you dear Godson Carter - Ammie's son, for that example ♥) or that you are worried about not getting the freshly shampooed carpet dirty as your daughter is projectile vomiting all over you, the sofa, the freshly washed blankets, etc. (happened to me just last week) or that one of your children goes without dinner because he did not like what was being served that night (sorry son #3! - Thursday night) or that your daughter re-styled her own hair with scissors that you thought were "put up and out of the way" (sweet niece Maecie - Ammie's daughter), etc., etc. and etc. ☻ Okay...now that we have gotten that little piece of "business" out of the way - let's start sharing! (Oh...now is a good time to remind you what sharing means. My dictionary offers this definition: use something along with others: to have or use something in common with other people. So, we are clear now on the purpose and intention of this blog! - please post comments!!) :-)
Right now, I am relishing a very rare treat which is....absolute silence!! It is AWESOME!! Of course, to partake in this delight I am up at 3:30 by myself, but...that is just a minor detail. I got up because my youngest son woke up in a daze and was hollering out the names of his brother and then progressed up to Mom and Dad. Well...I was the only person that acknowledged him (notice I did not say heard him as I know that others..hmm, hmm...his Dad! heard him), so I got up to comfort him and get him back to sleep. By the end of that though, I was totally awake and decided to tackle some tasks in my office. (How my son can go from completely petrified to sound asleep all within 15 minutes is something else!!)
So, here I am in my task-covered office. Literally!! I ought to take a picture, but of course, I can't find my camera right now to even do that! Besides having the honor of hosting/operating the Germantown/Port Washington Just Between Friends Sales Children's Consignment Sales Event, I also work as a Managed Care Manager for an Eye Dr. Unfortunately for me (because it coincides with Christmas and 2 of my children's birthdays), the end of the year and the beginning of the year are the busiest times at the office, so...my office is literally covered with manila file folders and piles of paperwork plus items to be sold at the JBF sale - ugh!!) Of course, instead of doing my office work first, I started with my JBF Tagging :-) - really!! So, I got the tags printed off and then in keeping with my non-focused way of doing things, I hopped over here to get my Blog current. I will manage to get back to my tags this morning and affix them to the proper items. Of course, it might be after I go put a load of laundry in the dryer (my family can sleep through anything!) and then I may even do a quick workout before I head back to my office to finish up the tagging and then dig into filing a "bijillion " claims! Do you do well at keeping on task? Are any of you also working from home...Please let me know as I'd love to hear how you handle that along with the most precious job of "Mom"!

Hit a road bump on my path to having a Happy Holidays Really
Hello friends!
I do hope this finds you doing well!! I am sitting in my sunlit office with the outside temp.being almost 70° today - just lovely! I am thinking of my snow-covered Northern friends as I wear my shorts and flip-flops! :-) Are your Holidays still Happy? To be honest...I have had a few rough spots this month with my Happy Holiday Really mission and I am trying to correct one situation right now as I think about what to share with you this week. Hopefully, when I check in next time my mission will have been accomplished!
Can you believe that Christmas is this week?! Of course, since about the time I turned 25 I've said that every year, but every year I am still surprised at how fast Christmas approached!! Okay...at the risk of being redundant, what things would you like for Ammie and me to share with you and/or help you with? Would you like to do recipe exchanges? Do you need parenting tips? What about money-saving ideas or even decorating how-tos?
We don't have all the answers to any of those things, but what we do have is a great network of others moms that we can tap into. Let this blog be our gift to you...take from it what you need and/or leave something to! For today's "share", I am leaving you a link about "Coastal Christmas" decorations. When I saw this, I immediately thought of my cold-weather, northern friends and how this might be a way to add some extra sunshine to your holiday. I know that a lot of families get to travel to warm weather, beach-laden places throughout the year so these decorations are not only unique, pretty and easy to do...they would also conjure up good memories of those trips for all of you!
Like thousands of other families this Christmas seasons, I am hitting the road this week to be with family on Christmas. For my fellow travelers, safe journeys to you! For everyone...My wish for all of you is that the true meaning of Christmas will shine brightly for you and that you have a very, very Happy New Year!!
Smiles,
Your JBF Friend Andrea

Still having a Happy Holiday Really!
Good Morning!
I am still having a Happy Holiday really, although some days it has been just barely! (Can any of you out there relate?!). The "barely" part really came into play yesterday when we went to buy our son's Christmas gifts and the invoice I was handed was about $900.00...(gulp, sigh and small sweat!). We buy our children only 3 gifts each year...something to share with each other, something they need and then something they want. Well...until about a month ago 2 of my sons were still in bunk beds. Bunk beds are great and we had them for about 10 years, but...my boys are getting big enough now that I thought it was time that they graduate from that scenario and get their own, twin beds.
So...for the past 6 months I have been working on this task of getting them out of the bunk beds and into the twin beds. I have utilized Craigslist and Freecycle and managed to get 3 free box springs, one free bed frame and one bed for only $15.00. Well - doing the fast math you can see that I am still one frame and 3 mattresses short for getting them all into a bed which is where the $900.00 invoice comes in! We are fortunate enough to live very close to a mattress manufacturing company that has been in business for 113 years and have an excellent reputation with good prices and wonderful mattresses. Even so...buying the 3 mattresses all at one time, at a good price still put us out a significant amount of money.
Now...the really tricky part here is how to make this $900.00 purchase exciting for my 3 boys who have actually enjoyed sleeping on the floor in their sleeping bags since Thanksgiving! (We took the bunk beds to my parent’s vacation home over the Thanksgiving break knowing that we were going to be buying mattresses). Any ideas on that would be most appreciated!!!
Now that we have made that purchase my goal of having a Happy Holiday Really is going to be tested this weekend as we try to finish up Christmas with a drastically revised budget. I am looking at all the Free Christmas activities my town has to offer (luckily...living in a large metropolitan area does help with that!) plus I have a few things that we can do here. So...I will let you know how that goes. And for the rest of the gifts I need to purchase? Well...coupons and bargain hunting, etc. are something I have been doing for year and so I will use those skill to once again "pull the rabbit from the hat"!
I am trying to encourage the other half of the Germantown/Port Washington Just Between Friends team to write something here as she is in the middle of that snow storm that has been talked about all over the news! She is hilarious and always has something going on!!!
We do this blog just for our friends, so...let us know what you think, how you are doing and what you know!
Keeping Happy!
Andrea

Andrea
